JDH replaced a failing fiber route in Hamilton County, Indiana, restoring reliability for a network that had been experiencing intermittent outages. This project involved replacing an aging fiber route—originally installed more than 30 years ago—for a confidential utility partner in Hamilton County, Indiana. The initial plan was to replace cable within the existing duct system, but once work began, the duct was found to be damaged and unusable in multiple locations. Some repairs would have required excavation more than 8 feet deep in congested utility corridors, making replacement a more practical option.

JDH worked with the customer to shift the approach to directional boring and full duct replacement. This required updated designs and new permits from both city and county agencies. To keep the project moving, our team phased the work—installing sections where permits were already approved while continuing to push approvals for remaining areas. Once the new duct and fiber were installed, the system was ready for cutover, resolving long-standing outage issues and providing a more reliable network moving forward.
