Keeping a Midwest Broadcast Tower Live with Rapid Tower Restoration

Our Impact
JDH responded quickly to an emergency request from a midwest broadcast tower, restoring tower lighting and camera functionality on a 1,000-foot broadcast tower in Indianapolis. The work brought the site back into FCC compliance and ensured their live broadcast cameras were fully operational. This project shows our ability to handle tower maintenance and repair work safely, even on tight timelines.

Additional Project Information
This project took place at a midwest broadcast tower near 96th & Ditch Road in Indianapolis. We were brought in after their normal contractor was unresponsive, so timing was important. The scope included relamping the entire 1,000-foot tower and replacing and re-aiming two cameras—one at roughly 800 feet and another at 50 feet.
Before mobilizing, our team worked with station leadership to make sure all bulbs and camera equipment were on-site and ready to go. Once cleared to proceed, the crew completed the work in about six hours using the tower’s internal elevator for access. The cameras were re-aimed to capture eastbound I-465, which is used regularly in live broadcasts.
